Conservative Republican Delegate Kathy Afzali (R-District 4) will announce her plans to run for Frederick County Executive.

September 14, 2017

“I will end the bickering in county government and stand up to special interests,” Afzali said in a statement. “It’s time for a fresh start.”

Property taxes are increasing and growth has become unmanageable across the county. “A balance between growth and rural heritage can be found and I believe that I am the leader to do it,” Afzali continued. “In addition, I am the only candidate in this race who has a record of voting against tax increases and developer handouts.”

As a Republican Delegate I stood up and fought against wasteful state spending and voted to kill the outrageous “rain tax,” Afzali continued. Afzali is ranked the #1 business legislator in the state by the MBRG (Maryland Business for Responsive Government), and the American Conservative Union has ranked her among their top conservative legislators in Maryland.

Delegate Afzali added, “As the mother of two daughters who graduated from Middletown High School, I know first-hand the importance of a quality public school system. That’s why as chair of the Frederick County Delegation, we brought to Frederick County more money for our schools than at any time in the county’s history.”

Kathy Afzali is serving her second term in the Maryland House of Delegates representing Frederick and Carroll Counties. She currently Chairs the Frederick County Legislative Delegation and is the ranking Republican on the Ways and Means Committee, responsible to pass most of Governor Hogan’s economic agenda.

She is also a small businesswoman, founder and president of Access KDM Consulting. She resides in Middletown with her husband David and sometimes their two daughters who are a senior and sophomore at UMD.

As your conservative Republican alternative to the disfunction at Winchester Hall, I pledge to:

  • Freeze property taxes and fees
  • Promote slow responsible growth
  • Oppose uncontrolled development
  • Fully fund Frederick County public schools
  • Direct county departments to work for citizens ---NOT bureaucrats
  • Demand the highest standard of ethics and personal conduct in public office
" I will end the bickering in county government and stand up to the special interests. I will work hard to make Frederick County the best place in Maryland."

Let's make a fresh start!
